About your trip

Join us to cycle on the island of Krk, Croatia

May 17 to 25, 2026

Ride Level: Recreational/Intermediate | Bikes: Electric Mountain bikes

Join us in May 2026 as we lead a bicycle tour on the coast of Croatia. A majority of the biking will be on the scenic island of Krk and we’ll also visit the mainland and other islands in the region. For this trip, Travel Fever Tours has partnered with a local Croatian guide, Nikola Radovčić, who runs a bike touring business and fitness center.

Nikola will supply Mountain e-Bikes for this tour and he will lead you on the routes each day, and provide transport to and from each day’s bike route.

Nikola leads tours at all levels, but this tour is designed to be Relaxed/Moderate in nature. He has lived for many years on the island of Krk and can be found on his bike nearly every day, either leading a group or riding on his own.

Croatia is known for its coastline and its villages with their small harbors. We’ll rarely be far from the Adriatic Sea on this tour.

The routes will be on a variety of surfaces, including gravel, smooth single-track paths, and asphalt. Each route is tailored for people who love to be outside on their bikes, enjoying the scenic surroundings, and learning about the culture of Croatia. You don't need to be a super-competitive cyclist to enjoy these rides. There will be no major ascents or descents, nor will there be rocky single-tracks paths.

About Croatia

Croatia's Dalmatian Coast is adorned with over a thousand islands. This breathtaking coastline offers diverse experiences, from historical sites to tranquil beaches and nature. You will find sunny beaches, ancient Roman ruins, pristine national parks, and excellent food in this Mediterranean country.

Croatia was part of Yugoslavia until it declared its independence in 1991 and gained it following a 4-year war. Since then the country has been left in peace.

The country lies just a short distance across the Adriatic Sea from Italy and enjoys much of the same climate and topography. Consequently, it has quickly become a major travel destination for Europeans and for those from further afield.

About the island of Krk

Known as the "Golden Island" since ancient times, Krk is one of Croatia's largest and most accessible islands. Uniquely connected to the mainland by the Krk Bridge since 1980, the island offers convenience without sacrificing its authentic Adriatic charm. You will find diverse landscapes, from rugged windswept shores in the east, to lush green forests and serene bays in the west.

Krk is a microcosm of the Kvarner Gulf, boasting a rich combination of history, stunning natural beauty, and modern tourist amenities that cater to families, adventurers, and history enthusiasts alike.

The island is dotted with ancient towns and villages, each with historical significance and Mediterranean character. The main hub, Krk Town, is where we’ll be based on this trip. It boasts formidable 2,000-year-old defensive walls encircling a charming labyrinth of stone-paved streets. Here you can explore the Frankopan Castle, which offers panoramic views of the sea, and the Krk Cathedral complex, a testament to centuries of architectural evolution.

To the south lies Baška, nestled in a picturesque valley and famous for its 2-kilometer-long pebble beach, Vela Plaža.

Krk is a playground for active travelers. A network of well-marked cycling and hiking trails crisscrosses the island, leading through ancient olive groves, past dry-stone walls, and up to scenic viewpoints like the "Moon Plateau" above Baška.

The island's culinary scene is a delight, deeply rooted in local tradition. Visitors can indulge in fresh seafood, succulent lamb, and the unique hand-rolled šurlice pasta, often served with a rich goulash.

From exploring ancient Roman and Venetian history in its walled towns, to discovering secluded beaches, biking through aromatic Mediterranean landscapes, and savoring unique local flavors, Krk offers an unforgettable Croatian island experience.

Is this trip for me?

This trip is for bicycle enthusiasts who enjoy great rides through nature and along the coast. It is not for super-competitive cyclists looking for steep ascents, rocky single-track paths, and setting new speed records.

Rather, it is for people who love to be outside on their bikes enjoying their surroundings in a moderate and relaxed fashion.

You will be provided with a Mountain E-bike and you’ll be riding on gravel roads, some smooth single-track paths, and some pavement.

We will cover 40-50 km a day (25-30 miles) and we will definitely stop to appreciate things we pass along the route.

To participate on this trip, you should be comfortable on a bike and bike frequently.
